Program Coordinator, Education Abroad

Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of exchange and affiliate programs and ensure the completion of administrative processes associated with the successful delivery of these programs. Build and maintain professional relationships with key constituents. Serve as the primary contact for students and domestic and international providers/partners, and as a liaison to academic advisors and campus offices regarding education abroad programs and policies. Manage and evaluate existing education abroad program offerings in countries as assigned. Actively contribute to the review of reciprocal exchanges and affiliated programs. Identify and develop new reciprocal exchange and affiliated programs based on the needs of students and/or academic partners on campus. Recruit, advise, admit, and prepare students for assigned programs. Provide students with appropriate academic and program advising. Design and execute information sessions, pre-departure orientations, and returnee sessions individually or as a team
Support and contribute to the promotion of programs relevant to a cluster of academic units including, but not limited to: reciprocal exchange, affiliated, faculty-led and internship/experiential. Work directly with assigned academic units to successfully advise students in those units, integrate education abroad into academic degree plans, develop a strong understanding of the academic structure of degree plans and departmental goals related to internationalization, identify opportunities for academic collaborations, and conduct activities supporting mutual goals
Ensure the completion of administrative processes associated with the functions above, either directly or through the supervision of student employees. Participate in staff meetings, special projects, and committees, including office-wide strategic planning and policy development. Collaborate on the processing of academic credit and other associated administrative tasks. Contribute as needed to help manage student incidents abroad in collaboration with Education Abroad leadership and Texas Global’s Global Risk and Safety team
Work independently and in collaboration with Texas Global’s Marketing and Communications team and assistant directors to develop marketing materials for fairs, tabling opportunities, events, presentations, and poster events, especially to support mobility to programs in assigned portfolio
Qualification
Required
Demonstration in application materials and interview of the following competencies typically acquired through a bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or a master's degree and one year of relevant experience
Experience developing or managing programs or projects and working well in a team environment
Experience working with college students or similar populations
Exhibit professional demeanor in all activities and interactions, focusing on strong interpersonal/intercultural communication skills
Effective problem-solving skills and quality decision-making; results-oriented; strong organizational abilities; demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities effectively
Strong customer focus, including students, faculty, staff, and external partners; and ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
Knowledge of student health, safety, and security issues in study abroad programs
An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
Preferred
Academic degree in higher education/international education or a relevant discipline and experience working in a higher education context
Experience advising and coordinating exchange, affiliated, faculty-led, internships, or experiential programs abroad
Significant experience living, studying, or working abroad
Demonstrated regional expertise, especially in Asia, Middle East, Africa, and/or Latin America
Proven knowledge and ability in marketing/outreach
Proficiency in a foreign language
