Specialist, Electrical Control(HEO)
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking a Specialist, Electrical Control to perform specialized and technical duties in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems. The role includes driving a bucket truck and ensuring compliance with safety standards while solving complex electrical issues.

Responsibilities
Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
Maintain electrical safety for all students and school personnel
Drive bucket truck to work locations and perform all required heavy equipment inspections
Tow trailers and trenchers, as needed
Rig, hoist, and lift large items, such as scoreboards and HVAC systems, using bucket truck
Responsible for the district's pole lighting
Solve difficult and specialized technical electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and energy management problems
Repair electrical deficiencies as noted by State and local fire, safety, and insurance officials
Inspect work performed by outside contractors to ensure it complies with district standards
Repair and/or replace defective electrical parts in motors, generators, pumps, telemetry equipment, electrical panels, controllers, switches, receptacles, and other equipment
Install and maintain electrical systems
Install electrical conduit and networking raceways
Perform tests and maintain records for emergency back-up systems
Maintain inventory and acquire parts as needed to perform electrical repairs
Maintain records of work completed and costs associated with projects
Assist in the coaching and monitoring of Electrician I and Electrician II employees
Participate in electrical training of at least 8 credit hours annually to maintain State license
Attend professional development and other meetings as required
Perform related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of three (3) years of increasing responsible electrical experience required
Minimum of two (2) years of work experience operating a bucket truck required
One of the following licenses required: NC School Maintenance Electrician, NC Electrical Journeyman, NC Limited, NC Intermediate, NC Unlimited
Must maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
Possess and maintain a Valid Driver's License or ability to provide own transportation
Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of electrical safety and the National Electrical Code
Comprehensive knowledge of full range components, parts, methods, tools, and equipment used in the electrical trade
Comprehensive knowledge of components and parts used in electrical distribution, H.I.D. lighting, and basic electrical controls
Comprehensive knowledge of procedures for installing and maintaining electrical systems and ability to train others
Skilled in troubleshooting, mechanical proficiency, and record keeping abilities
Skilled in project management best practices and ability to effectively work on multiple large-scale and small-scale projects simultaneously
Ability to diagnose problems using various techniques
Ability to maintain required records
Ability to read and understand blueprints for construction at 90 - 100% DD for architects and engineers
Ability to identify, report problems and assist in the repairs of related HVAC and plumbing equipment
Ability to work in extreme weather/temperatures, emergency and hazardous situations Ability to demonstrate safe work practices
Ability to reflect appropriate response to situations, while maintaining a professional and personal demeanor
Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment or software related to business needs
Ability to implement local, state, and federal rules, guidelines, and procedures into daily operations
Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to employ positive communication skills in all settings/mediums
Ability to coach and evaluate the work others, including external contractors
Ability to problem-solve utilizing sound judgment
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school system business
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment
Proficient in operating a bucket truck
