Housing Assistant
The City of New York is seeking a Housing Assistant to work in the Leased Housing Department. The role involves processing lease renewals and recertifications, responding to information requests, and collaborating with other units to ensure timely and accurate case processing.

Responsibilities
Use HUD regulations, NYCHA policy, and procedure to review and evaluate documents to process lease renewals, annual, and interim recertifications
Research and provide an accurate analysis of case activities
Resolve income discrepancies
Perform income verification
Complete case corrections
Ensure timely delivery of responses to inquiries
Identify and escalate case and system issues for immediate follow-up
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college
An associate degree or sixty semester credits from an accredited college and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in housing management at a development or developments containing at least 150 apartments, performing any one or a combination of the following duties: interviewing applicants; determining eligibility; gathering and evaluating information to resolve complaints; collecting rents; and/or resolving tenant-related problems
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, and three years of satisfactory full-time experience as described in '1' above
A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience as described in '1' or '2' above
All candidates must have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent
Preferred
Ability to navigate online databases
Excellent time management skills
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Excellent customer service skills, including proper business phone and email etiquette
Intermediate Excel skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
