Plan Examination Trainee, Electrical
The City of New York's Department of Buildings is responsible for ensuring safe and lawful building practices. They are seeking a Plan Examination Trainee, Electrical, who will work under supervision to gain experience in reviewing plans for compliance with electrical codes and regulations.

Responsibilities
Reads plans and specifications prepared by licensed professionals to understand the proposed scope of the work and determine conformity with codes, rules, and laws
Researches applicable codes, regulations, and rules pertaining to safe and compliant buildings and building equipment systems
Prepares preliminary electronic objection sheets for review and markup by a Plan Examiner or Assistant Plan Examiner
Researches pertinent codes to evaluate applicant requests for code variances and make recommendations for consideration and discussion with senior staff
Researches and interprets the Department’s and other city agency records
Evaluates application forms for completeness and accuracy
Qualification
Required
A baccalaureate degree in electrical or electronic engineering from an accredited college
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in electrical or electronic engineering technology and two years of full-time satisfactory experience in electrical engineering work
Preferred
Highly organized to manage project documents
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
