Financial Analyst I

Responsibilities
Prepare, analyze and communicate key financial information and provide support to management and other staff members regarding financial reporting and other related issues
Assist with budget preparation and financial planning processes and budget review for compliance and opportunities
Serve as consultant to all levels of management to provide decision support for initiatives, policies and procedures
Complete special projects and duties including providing necessary research, forecasting and conflict resolution
Review and reconcile Oracle system adjustments/issues relating to billing and revenue for sponsored projects, refunds, and general ledger account reconciliation items
Complete a variety of general ledger account reconciliations ensuring their accuracy and journalizing correcting entries as needed
Support the management of project related accounts receivables through the preparation and posting of monthly cash payments, reconciliation and correction of misapplied payments, management of unidentified cash receipts
Follow-up with research sponsors and departments to assure accuracy of accounts receivable
Provide financial assistance to various internal and external research institutions providing superior customer support for all sponsored programs inquiries
Assist with the coordination and management of external audits, providing documentation, explanations, and various other requests to external auditors and management as needed
Support the development and implementation of post award procedures and compliance programs
Develop ROI models and business cases
Serve as Finance representative on complex project teams
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field
OR Associate's Degree and two years of experience
OR High School Diploma/GED and four years of experience
Ability to complete basic analytical, consultative and information support through analysis and report preparation
Knowledge of key performance indicators, cash flow analysis, product line analysis and proposal development
Preferred
One year of Accounting, Finance, Healthcare, Investment Banking or Management Consulting experience
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Account (CMA) certification
Financial background
Excel and Microsoft Office experience
