Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain a code-first data platform, where pipelines, transformations, orchestration, and infrastructure are implemented through code rather than manual configuration or console-driven workflows

Own the full lifecycle of platform changes, including development, automated testing, validation, and promotion across environments via CI/CD

Build systems that emphasize maintainability, scalability, and observability

Make architectural decisions that go beyond operating individual cloud services, including trade-offs around performance, cost, reliability, and long-term evolution

Design and maintain analytics and reporting architectures, including cloud-based data platforms and BI tooling

Integrate disparate internal and external data sources into a centralized, well-structured data platform

Lead efforts to enhance databases and pipelines to improve efficiency, reliability, and analytical usability

Implement and enforce data quality, validation, and monitoring processes through code

Design, build, and evolve data models across bronze, silver, and gold layers

Work with natural-key datasets that are still maturing, making pragmatic modeling and integration decisions

Build integrated and unioned datasets across multiple source systems

Evolve models toward surrogate-key and/or composite-key dimensions and fact tables as data maturity increases

Own modeling decisions including grain, keys, integration strategies, and downstream analytical impact

Partner with business stakeholders, analysts, and engineers to deliver high-value data solutions

Scope and implement data enhancements aligned with company initiatives

Contribute to improving data team standards, tooling, and engineering practices

Deliver accurate, reliable datasets and reports to support operational and strategic decision-making

Required

Demonstrated experience building code-first data platforms, not just configuring tools or services

Expert-level proficiency in Python for data engineering and pipeline development

Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database platforms (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server)

Experience with TypeScript and defining infrastructure or orchestration through code

Hands-on experience with CI/CD workflows for developing, testing, and promoting data changes

Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines

Experience integrating data via APIs

Applied knowledge of data modeling principles, including dimensional modeling and star schemas

Strong understanding of how data entities should be structured for accuracy, performance, analytics, and reporting

Applied knowledge of cloud-based data platforms and services, particularly AWS

Ability to reason about architectural trade-offs and make platform-level decisions

Self-directed, able to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities

Strong collaboration and communication skills

Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience working with AWS Data Tools as part of production data platforms

5+ years of experience architecting, building, and maintaining enterprise data platforms, with a strong emphasis on AWS-based architectures

5+ years of experience developing and operating cloud-based data platforms through code, including infrastructure, pipelines, and workflows defined and promoted via CI/CD

2+ years of experience serving as a technical lead on data and analytics initiatives, with responsibility for architectural decisions and technical direction

Demonstrated experience owning end-to-end data platform development on AWS, including data modeling, system integration, testing, and deployment across environments
