Responsibilities

Serve as the primary analyst on utility revenue credit transactions and prepare well‑supported rating recommendations for committee review
Produce clear, timely rating reports and committee materials that document analytical rationale and conclusions
Act as an active, vocal voting member of rating committees, participating in deliberations and final decisions
Monitor issuer performance and market developments; incorporate relevant news, regulatory changes, and sector trends into analysis
Mentor and provide analytic support to junior analysts, contributing to team development and quality control
Contribute to research projects, special studies, and client/investor communications as needed

Required

Education: Bachelor's degree required; postgraduate qualifications advantageous
Experience: An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 3+ years of extensive experience in municipal finance, credit analysis, or utility sector analysis
Sector knowledge: Experience or strong familiarity with water, sewer, and solid‑waste utility operations, financials, and regulatory environments
Technical skills: Strong financial statement analysis and quantitative modeling skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office and aptitude for learning proprietary systems
Data/tech aptitude: Experience with data analytics, programming, or automation tools is a plus
Communication: Clear written and verbal communication for internal committees and external stakeholders
Judgment and integrity: Sound analytical judgment and adherence to S&P Global's standards and criteria
Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in teams and mentor junior colleagues
Organization: Strong time management and ability to prioritize competing deadlines
All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week
We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer

Preferred

Prior experience in municipal markets or public finance credit analysis
Advanced degree in finance, economics, public administration, or related field
Familiarity with S&P Ratings criteria and municipal bond market conventions
