Responsibilities
Be A Point Person – help the Chief manage the engineering department including overseeing the staff which maintains the physical operation of the hotel including building structure, fixtures, refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, water treatment, electrical systems and grounds
Walk the Talk – in you role, you need to be walking your hotel every day – getting out and inspecting the areas those you supervisor are responsible for and training or retraining the team when things don’t meet expectations
Be a Leader – help create an environment that’s engaging and one where talented people want to join, learn, do their best, and advance
Be the Manager on Duty – if requested
Qualification
Required
At least three years of progressive experience in a related field
Previous supervisory experience
Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally in English with associates, guests, and hotel management
Physical ability to perform heavy work - exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk long distances
Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms
Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels
Near vision - the ability to see details at close range
Ability to climb stairs and descend stairs in a timely fashion without fatigue
Ability to move quickly and agilely if a situation requiring quick assistance arises
Long work hours may be required
Work will be under variable temperature conditions and noise levels and will be both outdoors and indoors (including potentially on roofs)
Work will also be around chemicals, fumes and/or odor hazards as well as around dust and/or mite hazards
Preferred
Customer service and hotel experience
At least three years of practical experience in one or more of the technical trades (HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical)
Any license the property may require
Previous experience with budgeting
Good working knowledge of the various Microsoft software programs utilized at the hotel
