Senior Analytics Engineer – DSO / Dental Operations

Chord Specialty Dental Partners, a leading provider of pediatric and orthodontic dental care, is seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our team. The Senior Data Analyst will own and steward the enterprise 'gold' data model for the dental service organization (DSO) and be responsible for delivering reliable data marts, reports, and insights for the business.

Responsibilities

Own the gold data model (conformed dimensions, fact tables, business rules) across the DSO
Design, build, and maintain data marts, views, and stored procedures in SQL Server to support analytics and operations
Create and manage Power BI semantic models/datasets and reusable dataflows
Build and maintain CSV / flat-file outputs for downstream consumers and external partners
Ensure data quality, consistency, and lineage from source systems into the gold model
Develop and maintain standard management reports and dashboards (clinical, operations, and financial KPIs: production, collections, AR, hygiene metrics, chair utilization, cancellations/no-shows, case acceptance, etc.)
Perform deep-dive analyses and root-cause investigations (e.g., production variances, provider performance, clinic performance, payer mix changes)
Translate business questions from executives and operators into clear analytical approaches and data products
Proactively identify trends, risks, and opportunities and recommend pragmatic actions
Serve as a go-to analytics partner for Operations, Finance, Revenue Cycle, Clinical Leadership, and Marketing
Demonstrate strong understanding of how a DSO / dental clinic runs, including: Scheduling, provider productivity, and chair-time utilization. Insurance verification, claims, adjustments, write-offs, AR. Fee schedules, payer contracts, and patient responsibility. New patient flow, marketing funnels, and retention. Challenge and refine metric definitions to ensure consistent, business-relevant KPIs across the organization. Document business logic, metric definitions, and data assumptions in clear, accessible language
Help define and enforce data governance standards, including naming conventions, metric definitions, and access controls
Collaborate with Data Engineering / IT to ensure robust, auditable data pipelines from source systems into Azure/SQL Server
Monitor data refreshes, performance, and reliability; troubleshoot data issues end-to-end
Contribute to data documentation, catalogs, and metadata so that stakeholders can discover and trust available data assets
Help prioritize the analytics backlog and manage stakeholder expectations on delivery and enhancements

Required

5+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, Senior Data Analyst, or similar role
Bachelors degree in an applicable quantitative field (e.g. analytics, comp sci, math, economics, finance, etc)
Position requires ability to work in office in Nashville, TN
Dental / DSO / healthcare provider experience with strong understanding of core business processes and metrics (able to communicate credibly with clinic, regional, and revenue cycle leaders)
Strong SQL Server skills, including: Writing complex queries, CTEs, window functions. Building views, stored procedures, and optimized data marts. Performance tuning and query optimization basics
Hands-on experience with Power BI, including: Data modeling, DAX, measures, and calculated columns. Building interactive reports and dashboards for business users. Managing and publishing datasets / workspaces
Experience working in Azure-based data environments (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory / pipelines, Azure Storage or similar)
Proven ability to translate business questions into analytical solutions and communicate findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Strong attention to detail, ownership mindset, and comfort working with imperfect real-world data

Preferred

Experience in multi-site DSO or healthcare settings
Background in financial analytics (production vs. collections, AR, payer economics, profitability by clinic/provider)
Experience with version control and DevOps practices for SQL / BI artifacts
Familiarity with other reporting / BI tools or Python/R for ad hoc analysis
