Responsibilities

Obtain accurate costs and then quote shipments for customers
This position will utilize heavy uses of load boards like DAT and Truckstop.com
Manage transportation on project basis for customers
Plan shipment flow and dispatch carriers as needed
Check with carriers to make sure they are confirmed to pick up. Track shipments in progress
Confirm costs on shipment and prepare them for billing
Resolve problems that occur mid-shipment with solutions which will still allow the shipment to arrive on time
Able to work independently and be 'on call' once per month. Some weekend work will be required
Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Evaluate carriers and make recommendations on which carriers will continue to move freight
Can be 'on call' one week per month. This week requires evening & weekend work

Required

YOU MUST BE AN EXPERIENCED FREIGHT BROKER FOR THIS POSITION
Previous freight broker experience and be able to bring a group of carriers with you on day 1
Broker: 3 years (Required)
Can work within the Microsoft Office suite of programs – especially Outlook
Has worked within an established TMS program
Previous experience posting loads to the DAT and/or Truckstop.com
Enjoys negotiating and is aware of pricing trends within the transportation industry
This position requires a great deal of detail and precision
Can work in an environment where the expectation is 100% on-time delivery
Ability to quickly identify problems and form solutions as they occur
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people - Very Important
