Responsibilities
Performs various clerical duties related to the updating and organizing of information on the nursing units. Establishes & maintains the patient record on the unit. Answers the telephone in a professional manner and directs calls to appropriate individuals and/or takes messages. Stock units with office supplies; prepares requisitions to maintain established inventories. Faxes and photocopies information as needed. Obtains supplies as requested by the nursing staff
Records information, such as physicians' orders and instructions, dietary requirements, and medication information, on patient charts and medical records, as needed
Adheres to HIPAA guidelines by accessing PHI in accordance with departmental assignment
Welcomes visitors, answers inquiries, gives directions and refers inquiries to nursing and physician staff as needed
Provides support and necessary information to nurses, providers, offices, etc
Arranges discharges/ transfers by notifying patient transport services
Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations and adhering to Infection Prevention Policies
May transport patients in wheelchair to locations within facility
Qualification
Required
