Business Development Engineer

Responsibilities

Own the new product development process from problem definition through early sales efforts
Capture and synthesize voice-of-customer insights to inform product direction
Connect commercial needs with technical solutions
Develop and cultivate product development vision in partnership with assigned commercial segments
Identify and translate economic drivers behind customer decision-making into product implications
Collaborate with commercial teams to communicate technical functionality and customer value of new products
Work cross-functionally to:
Support patent development with in-house patent attorneys
Validate product performance through internal and field testing
Develop product designs, documentation, and support materials

Qualification

Mechanical EngineeringSolidWorksProduct DesignCommercial StrategyProject ManagementMechanical AptitudeCommunication Skills

Required

B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline (Controls or Electrical Engineering considered with strong mechanical interest)
Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
Ability to work onsite in the New Orleans office
Ability to meet functional job requirements in industrial environments (e.g., climbing ladders)
Willingness to travel approximately 30%

Preferred

High level of mechanical aptitude
Academic or practical experience in business, commercial strategy, or customer-facing roles
Proficiency with SolidWorks®, Pro-E®, or similar CAD tools
Experience in product design and development
Exposure to project management or project planning
