Start in 2026 SpringMidAmerican Energy Company, one of the largest renewable energy producers in the U.S, is seeking an intern for High Voltage Engineering. The intern will provide engineering support for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the electric transmission system, while also participating in various professional development activities throughout the summer.

Responsibilities
Provide Engineering support for planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the electric transmission system. Project assignments may include performing project designs utilizing principles of civil engineering including, but not limited to, geotechnical analysis, structural engineering, mechanics of materials engineering, and construction management
Performing Engineering analysis, investigations, and preparing engineering reports
Maintenance of Electric Transmission models, maps, and drawings with appropriate electrical equipment details and specifications
Other special projects as determined by the high voltage engineering manager and staff
Perform responsibilities as directed within determined time frames and with a high degree of accuracy
Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department and the company
Maintain the professional competence, knowledge and skills necessary to effectively complete responsibilities; enhance job knowledge and abilities by taking personal responsibility for professional development and training
Maintain sensitive and confidential information regarding company information
Attend work on a regular basis and support the company’s employee policies and procedures, including workplace safety rules
Ensure all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understand and comply with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company
Qualification
Required
Must be a college student, sophomore or higher standing, currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in civil engineering
Must be able to work May-August 2026
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record
Employment is contingent upon passing a post-offer physical and drug screen
Preferred
Prior energy industry experience helpful
Software skills needed to be used in extracting information from various sources, conducting analysis and assisting workforce to achieve goals
Effective project management skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently
