Responsibilities
Clean, stock, organize, and prepare supplies for multiple Chemistry instructional laboratories; monitor inventory to ensure equipment and supplies are available for scheduled laboratory coursework
Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs; provide instructional and operational support to laboratory instructors and students
Support and enforce lab safety policy and procedures; communicate with supervisors, faculty, staff, and students to ensure safe lab practices are followed; report instances of missing inventory and/or unsafe laboratory activities
Functional supervision of work-study students; effectively communicate with supervisors, faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students regarding teaching lab support policies and procedures
Investigate and report any and all incidents of failed or malfunctioning facilities-related items (e.g., lights, water faucets, and drains)
Qualification
Required
Associates degree in a science related field with 1 to 3-years' experience in an active laboratory environment
Ability to move boxes and equipment weighting up to 50 lbs
Strong functional knowledge of various types laboratory equipment, instruments and glassware
Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and Google applications
Demonstrated ability working with the public coupled with demonstrated sensitivity
Ability to listen and deal warmly and empathetically with a wide range of people
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biophysics with a desire to learn laboratory operations and support
