Commissioning Engineer & Mechanical Project Manager (Specialized Critical Facilities) - OFMD

Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis is seeking a Commissioning Engineer and Mechanical Project Manager for their Operations & Facilities Management Department. This role is responsible for managing and leading the verification and validation of critical infrastructure systems within specialized facilities, ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Develop, review, and execute comprehensive commissioning plans, procedures, and checklists for mechanical, electrical, and control systems. Prepare commissioning checklists and associated documents
Oversee and conduct on-site inspections, pre-functional checks, functional performance testing (FPT), and integrated systems testing
Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex system deficiencies and performance issues in collaboration with design engineers, contractors, and vendors
Serve as the primary technical liaison, coordinating activities between design, construction, operations teams, and third-party vendors to ensure a seamless commissioning process
Ensure all commissioning activities and documentation adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements
Maintain meticulous documentation of all test results, observations, and resolutions; prepare detailed commissioning reports for key stakeholders
Provide technical support and comprehensive training to facility operations and maintenance personnel for newly commissioned systems
Promote and ensure compliance with all on-site safety protocols and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned

Bachelor's degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education
No specific certification/professional license is required for this position
Construction (10 Years)
A driver's license is not required for this position

Preferred

A minimum of 5 years of experience in commissioning, start-up, or operations of complex mechanical and electrical systems, preferably within critical environments (e.g., labs, clean rooms, data centers, hospitals, industrial plants)
