Entry Level Environmental Engineer/Scientist

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. is currently seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Engineer/Scientist in their Springfield, MA office. The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects including site investigation, environmental compliance, and design and implementation of remedial systems, while being supervised by project managers.

Responsibilities

Perform outdoor, all-season field tasks such as soil / groundwater /air / surface water / soil gas sampling, site reconnaissance, surveying, construction oversight, drilling and test pit excavation oversight, soil sampling and monitoring well installation oversight, etc
Work on all phases of projects (due diligence, site investigation, field work, data evaluation, regulatory permitting, engineering analysis, construction and/or implementation management and documentation, and any close-out monitoring)
Monitoring and documenting various aspects of construction projects
Conducting technical analyses/calculations
Interpreting various site-specific data to make conclusions and/or recommendations
Regulatory permitting and reporting
Performing analysis of subsurface data
Writing drafts of field and environmental reports
Preparing cost/quantity estimates

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental/Geological Engineering, Geology or Science
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities
Ability to follow direction, and work independently or in a team setting
Strong communication skills, problem-solving and organizational skills
Willingness to work outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions
Ability to lift, carry and move equipment and supplies
Ability to travel locally and regionally
A valid driver's license in good standing and a reliable vehicle

Preferred

1+ year of related environmental experience in the fields of site investigation, remediation, environmental compliance, due diligence
Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification, including 8-hour annual refresher certificates
