Perfetti Van Melle is one of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of confectionery and chewing gum, and they are seeking an enthusiastic Production Generalist to join their growing team. In this role, you will operate and monitor packaging equipment, ensure product quality, and maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Responsibilities

Efficiently and safely operate and monitor all packaging equipment to maintain product flow from discharge of the extruder to palletize

Responsible for package integrity and quality checks, including metal, seals, code date, and product weight and case counts/weights

Monitor and maintain correct product/case weights

Handle scrap and waste from machine, as necessary

Troubleshoot equipment to ensure continuous operation

Perform data entry into the computer

Work in a safe and responsible manner, exercising caution to avoid accidents, prevent injury to people or damage to the equipment

Maintain a clean, orderly work area. Ensure the area is clean and organized as part of the shift hand-off and weekly shutdown/sanitation process. Operate floor scrubber and other cleaning devices as required

Adhere to all safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) policies and promote safe work practices

Responsible for notifying maintenance or supervisor when line or piece of line is down and needs attention

Required

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Ability to work overtime hours, above your normal schedule, to meet customer's demands

Strong troubleshooting and problem analysis skills

Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)- Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Uniform, Hairnet, Beard net, and Mask when required

Occasionally exposed to dusty conditions due to the handling of bulk products

Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms

Ability to occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl

Ability to talk, hear, and smell

Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally push/pull 350-pound carts with wheels

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision
