Labs Development Coordinator - Flow Cytometry, Full-Time Days

Responsibilities
Develops and writes standard operating procedures for new testing
Participates in laboratory information system (LIS) build for new tests
Develops, writes, and executes/oversees validation plans/summaries for new testing
Develops technical and workflow structure for new testing
Develops and maintains relationships with all customers and suppliers
Instructs laboratory staff in the section on new methods and instrumentation
Develops curriculum and conducts education and training of residents in conjunction with the Medical Director
Adheres to hospital and department policies and procedures
In conjunction with the medical director and manager, ensures newly developed tests are in compliance with all federal, state, local, TJC, CAP, multi-disciplinary, hospital regulations, policies, and procedures
Coordinates and develops maintenance protocols for new instrumentation
Coordinates and performs advanced troubleshooting and repair. Calls for outside service when necessary
In conjunction with the medical director and manager, coordinates development of new procedures and relevant documentation
Participates in and presents laboratory meetings and continuing education programs
Coordinates section technical in-service programs
Orients, trains, and assists in the evaluation of laboratory personnel according to the guidelines established by human resources and laboratory management
Assists in the development of Relative Value Unit (RVU) for new testing
Coordinates accurate billing for new services
Assists in preparation and monitoring of expense/revenue budgets
Conducts variance analysis; identifies and explains trends in productivity, volume, acuity, or service
Coordinates product evaluation consistent with hospital materials management program
In conjunction with the medical director and manager, initiates and facilitates preparation of new program proposals
Assures that research activities performed in the section are in compliance with hospital research policies
Assists in the preparation of major equipment, purchase proposals, selection processes for equipment acquisition. Participates in the negotiation process
Participates in facility changes and planning
Establishes and executes personal development objectives as part of annual objective setting process which complements current position
Identifies and pursues activities/development opportunities which are appropriate for position and personal development objectives, e.g., participation/leadership in relevant professional groups, associations, continuing education as participant, presenter, planner
Assesses and communicates staff development needs to manager
Adheres to patients first management standards on leadership, communication, and visibility
Facilitates effective interdepartmental communication of incidents with appropriate personnel (Manager, Medical Directors, Medical Staff; etc.)
Promotes philosophy and objectives of the hospital, division, and department
Identifies and communicates key issues and trends to managers
Works with medical directors and managers in implementing goals, objectives, budgets, and new programs
Works with medical directors on resolution of technical issues
Supports clinical quality management activities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in medical technology/clinical or medical laboratory science or chemical, physical, or biological science to qualify the individual as Testing Personnel under the CLIA ‘88 regulations
Five or more years of experience in a laboratory of the applicable discipline
For Cytogenetics Specialty: CG (ASCP) Certification, minimum of five (5) years of Cytogenetics laboratory experience to include both Wet Lab and FISH/Chromosome analysis, and date interpretation and reporting
Preferred
Prefer certified through Board of Registry, ASCP or equivalent
Master's degree or higher in applicable discipline
