Responsibilities
Create and facilitate small-group reading sessions for K-2 students, ensuring phonics instruction is engaging, enjoyable, and tailored to individual needs
Adjust teaching approaches dynamically based on student requirements, reading proficiency levels, and engagement signals
Conduct motivational coaching sessions with students to promote progress in adaptive literacy applications and accomplish learning objectives
Track student performance data from adaptive platforms and apply insights to customize instruction for each reading group
Employ storytelling, humor, gaming references, and affirmative reinforcement to sustain student effort and address learning resistance
Qualification
Required
Available to work onsite at NextGen Academy in Austin, TX
Bachelor's degree in elementary education, reading, or a related discipline
Certification in structured literacy methods such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, or comparable evidence-based phonics frameworks
2+ years of experience providing small-group reading instruction to K-2 students or learners facing reading challenges
Proven capacity to evaluate student reading abilities and develop differentiated instruction autonomously
Genuine interest in video games and gaming culture, regardless of personal gaming experience
Authorized to work legally in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
