Responsibilities
Design & Build
Create and maintain jobs, job streams, calendars, variable tables, prompts, and restart logic
Enforce naming, versioning, and scheduling standards
Operate & Recover
Monitor workloads via DWC dashboards and critical path
Troubleshoot failures, analyze return codes, apply preventive fixes
Maintain runbooks and operational documentation
Event-Driven Scheduling
Implement file, message, and return-code–based triggers and dependencies
Perform what-if analysis for late or missing upstream jobs
Automation & Integration
Automate deployments, checks, and reporting using IWS CLI/REST
Script with Shell, Python, or PowerShell
Integrate with ServiceNow and Jira for incident and change management
Migrations & Upgrades
Plan and execute IWS upgrades (e.g., 9.x → 10.x)
Manage agent deployments, patching, backups, DR testing, and rollback
Governance & Reporting
Produce weekly SLA, MTTR, and failure trend reports
Ensure audit/compliance controls (access, approvals, segregation of duties)
Collaboration
Work with application, database, and infrastructure teams on onboarding and cutovers
Mentor L1/L2 teams and promote scheduling best practices
Qualification
Required
8+ years hands-on experience with IBM Workload Scheduler / IBM Workload Automation
Daily use of Dynamic Workload Console (DWC)
Strong expertise in job vs job stream design, calendars, dependencies, prompts, and recovery
Proven SLA monitoring and incident management via DWC
Scripting skills (Shell, Python, PowerShell); IWS CLI/REST; Git familiarity
Linux and Windows OS fundamentals; agents, networking, service accounts
Experience with change management, CAB, approvals, and backout planning
z/OS exposure; scheduler DB knowledge (DB2/Oracle)
LDAP/SSO integration for DWC
CI/CD and observability integration
Experience with other schedulers (Control-M, Autosys, Stonebranch, JAMS)
Data workflows (ETL/ELT), cloud schedulers (ADF, Databricks)
Preferred
Success Metrics (KPIs)
SLA breaches MTTR reduction of 30–50% within 90 days
Increased automated recovery coverage quarter over quarter
Change success rate > 98% with zero audit findings
