Responsibilities

Data analysis, design, and management of restoration projects
Create stream and wetland designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including channel design, site grading and earthwork analysis
Lead plan set development to ensure the documents convey the design intent and meet the goals of the project
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using tools such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, or SWMM
Generate material quantities, cost estimates, specifications, and other documents necessary for construction implementation
In depth knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental compliance regulations such as NC DEQ, DNR, ACOE, and NCDOT
Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other engineers to deliver projects within scope and budget
Ensure all designs comply with industry codes, standards, and regulations
Lead the development of engineering technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and other project related documents
Review and approve engineering design documents including specifications and drawings
Provide technical language and data for permits, applications, and compliance reports

Required

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering fields
Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of North Carolina
A minimum of 8 years of experience in water resources engineering and at least 2 years of design experience with stream restoration projects
Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
Professional experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, or SWMM
Proven project management experience

Preferred

Master's degree in Water Resource Engineering or a related field
Familiarity with GIS software
Experience working with municipal, state, or federal clients
Knowledge of industry standards, such as ASCE, AWWA, and EPA regulations
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently, self-critique work, and multi-task regularly in a fast-paced environment with multiple changes, accepting responsibility for critical work products and meeting tight deadlines
