Assistant Controller
Connect Search, LLC is a growing accounting firm in Chicago seeking an experienced Assistant Controller. This key leadership role involves overseeing accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and mentoring accounting staff while providing exposure to multiple business units and influencing financial strategy.
Responsibilities
Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
Prepare, analyze, and review consolidated financial statements for accuracy and compliance
Coordinate and support external audits and regulatory reporting
Lead and mentor accounting staff, promoting professional development
Evaluate and improve accounting systems, processes, and workflows
Implement process improvement initiatives to optimize ERP system usage and operational efficiency
Collaborate with management teams to provide financial insights and support strategic decisions
Perform ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as requested
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Significant progressive accounting experience, including leadership/management experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting systems
Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
Excellent leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred
CPA designation highly preferred
