Responsibilities

Perform scheduled maintenance, calibrations, troubleshooting and repair and assist in the major maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and controls, reactor protection and associated equipment
As directed, performs maintenance on microprocessor, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic instrumentation and control systems
Verifies and complies with Equipment Clearances and Radiological Work Permits associated with Instrument and Control maintenance work assignments
As directed, maintains proper operation of control systems by diagnosis and correction of operating perturbations through maintenance and calibration
Satisfactorily completes the scheduled initial, continuous, on-the-job and refresher training commitments identified in the I&C Technician Apprentice-Shift Training Program as accredited by the National Academy for Nuclear Training and multitask training
Maintains calibration and maintenance work areas for portable equipment associated with radiation monitoring
Maintains the I&C shops, job work sites, test equipment issue areas and lab equipment in a safe, orderly, and neat condition
Assists other groups in support of safe operations and maintenance of the nuclear site
Accurately completes all documentation associated with and required by assigned job tasks
Complies with all regulatory and site procedures and policies, including Site Emergency Plan and Technical Specifications
Assists in performing maintenance, calibrations, and troubleshooting on systems and equipment within the reactor containment and other radiological areas during all modes of plant operation
As directed, performs 'pre-critical checkout' of reactor controls and instrumentation
As directed, sets up test equipment and assists the engineers in conducting tests of station equipment
Assists in performing maintenance and calibration of areas, process and portable radiation monitoring systems and equipment
Assists in performing the necessary rigging in handling of I&C related equipment and materials
As directed, assists computer personnel by performing board component level repair, I/O module hardware calibration, soldering, wire wrapping and cable lug terminations. As directed, performs maintenance on reactor control rod drive and control equipment
Assists in modifying control panels, both electrically and mechanically, for new or different installation of instruments and controls
Performs multitask and other work related to the above assigned or directed

Required

Two year Post-High School relevant education or equivalent experience as deemed appropriate by Maintenance Management, in applicable field
Pass the Instrument and Control Technician Apprentice qualification test and EEI Standardize test
Satisfactorily completes, as scheduled, the initial, continuous, on-the-job, Training and qualifications and to proceed in line of progression to first class technician as identified in the I&C Training Program as accredited by the National Academy for Nuclear Training
Demonstrated work knowledge of electronic equipment and circuitry, and some knowledge of magnetic amplifier equipment
Demonstrated reasonable familiarity with the basic theories of mechanical instrumentation and control and their methods of application in nuclear power stations; and familiarity with physical/dimensional measurement techniques and methodologies
Demonstrated ability to 'troubleshoot' instrumentation and control circuits
Demonstrated ability to interpret simple sketches, prints, and written instructions and to work from such recorded instructions
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply, company safety regulations, policies, and practices
Must be capable of passing and maintaining the applicable discipline eye examination standards
Demonstrated reasonable familiarity of electrical and mechanical physical/dimensional measurements
Demonstrated reasonable familiarity of digital electronics and microprocessor based technology
Must be physically able and willing to utilize protective clothing, respirators, or other equipment essential to the requirements of maintaining a Nuclear Power Plant including making containment entries
Must be able to and willing to work in elevated or confined quarters and in radiation fields
Must have the physical ability to carry a minimum of 50 pounds tooling, test equipment, and plant equipment
