Bilingual Legal Assistant – Immigration Law Firm

Delgado Law Firm is seeking an experienced Immigration Law Legal Assistant to support the paralegal and attorney with case preparation, client communication, and deadline management. The ideal candidate will manage assigned cases with minimal supervision and ensure precision in legal filings.

Law Practice

Responsibilities

Prepare and assemble immigration filings (including but not limited to forms, supporting documents, and exhibits)
Review case materials for completeness and accuracy prior to attorney review
Implement feedback promptly and avoid repeated errors
Maintain organized and complete paper and digital case files
Independently manage assigned caseload
Set, track, and monitor internal and external deadlines
Proactively follow up with clients for missing information or documents
Notify supervising attorney of issues or delays before deadlines are impacted
Send intakes and document requests through firm software
Communicate professionally with clients regarding case requirements and timelines
Manage client expectations professionally
Document all client communications in the case management system
Use case management software daily (eImmigration & MyCase) to:
Send intakes and prepare forms
Communicate with clients
Upload, label and organize documents correctly
Track tasks and deadlines
Maintain accurate internal case notes
Maintain a low error rate in work product
Follow firm procedures and attorney instructions
Protect client confidentiality and comply with ethical standards

Required

Minimum 1 year of hands-on immigration legal assistant (family & humanitarian)
Bilingual (English and Spanish) - ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with clients
Demonstrated experience preparing immigration filings independently
Strong attention to detail with a proven record of accuracy
Ability to consistently manage deadlines without reminders
Track record of managing client expectation and setting hard deadlines for clients
Comfortable working in a fast-paced legal environment
Willingness to ask questions and accept feedback
Ability to work at a computer for extended periods and carry
Occasional lifting and transporting of case files and file boxes, as well as bending, squatting, reaching, and standing in the performance of office duties
