Responsibilities

Responsible for the design, creation, and development of new products in lighting and home décor categories, with a strong emphasis on lighting

Participate in brainstorm sessions for product launches, working alongside the Design Director, SVP of Product Design & Development, and Director of Product Strategy

Provide mentorship to junior and mid-level designers

Develop designs from multiple conceptual sources

Develop innovative concepts based on brand attributes

Collaborate with mechanical/electrical engineers and manufacturers

Participate in product review meetings and presentations with staff at all levels

Travel as necessary to meet project needs and attend industry-related events; provide leadership during team travel experiences when necessary

Required

4-8 years of experience in home décor design, with experience in lighting a strong plus

BS/BFA in Industrial/Product Design or closely related area

Immersive knowledge of various raw materials and processes (e.g., metal, glass, natural fibers, casting, spinning, etc.) gained from in-factory experiences

Knowledge of technical details required for lighting production, and a deep interest in extending that knowledge

Strong drawing/illustration skills

Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, MS Excel, and MS Word

Ability to translate concepts into 2D and 3D software – ACAD, Solidworks, KeyShot

Awareness of current trends in home décor and interior design

Strong organization/prioritization, written/verbal communications skills

Able to multitask and work under tight deadlines

A team player able to take direction and work professionally on self-generated designs or designs from the Team

With SVP of Product Design & Development, collaborate with Business and Marketing Teams to ensure business goals are being met and market demands are being addressed

Ability to travel up to 25% annually
