EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST (Title 32)

Responsibilities

Serves as a recognized authority on the repair and operation of various types of ARNG equipment
Provides advice, assistance, and guidance regarding maintenance management systems, material readiness programs, cost reduction programs, and maintenance shop practices in maintenance facilities
Prepares and conducts both classroom and on-the-job training designed to upgrade, improve, and/or update the knowledge and working skills of unit maintenance personnel
Evaluates directives to ensure adherence to standard methods, conformity in maintenance procedures, and the proper use of maintenance equipment, facilities, and personnel
Reviews the effectiveness and efficiency of equipment and maintenance management and needs for improvement of existing practices and the impact on the overall maintenance program

Required

National Guard Membership is required
Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
Must meet Compatible Military Assignment within one year from placement
Wear of the military uniform is mandatory
Direct Deposit is mandatory
Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
Must possess a valid state drivers license
Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more classes of equipment
Knowledge of standard shop terminology
A basic knowledge of mechanical principles relating to equipment
Experience must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blue prints and technical publications
Experience using computer and automation systems
24 months of specialized experience in applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment design
Experience in the use of tools and test equipment
Experience developing, installing, inspecting or revising equipment maintenance programs and techniques
Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methods of equipment maintenance and management of a variety of ARNG equipment
Knowledge of the full range of ARNG equipment standards, policies, regulations, and methods
Ability to instruct and provide classroom training involving equipment repair and modification
Knowledge of and ability to oversee equipment programs, maintenance management systems, material readiness programs, cost reductions programs, and maintenance shop practices in maintenance facilities
