Responsibilities

Serve as an NDI level II inspector on repaired, overhauled, re-worked, manufactured and investigative aircraft and aircraft related components
Evaluate NDI parameters and recommend changes to existing and new processes
Recommend procedures and techniques used to locate and identify anomalies in manufactured, reworked, and in-service metallic and non-metallic aircraft and components
Apply NDI and evaluation techniques to evaluate results of processes used throughout the USCG
Support USCG airworthiness program by ensuring manufacturing and quality processes result in airworthy aircraft components and structures
Provide NDI technical expertise in failure analysis, root cause failure analysis, and in support of mishap investigations

Required

Four (4) years aviation NDI experience and have been previously qualified or certified as a Level II or equivalent under a Department of Defense (DoD) Aviation NDI Program, a Program following National Aerospace Standard (NAS) 410 standards, or equivalent NDI Program
Must be certifiable to a Level II in accordance with NAS410 in the following NDI methods: Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT), Eddy Current Testing (ET), and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and have the minimum amount of training and experience for each method per NAS410
Knowledge of aircraft structure, aircraft components, aircraft assemblies, and of aircraft metallic and non-metallic materials
Knowledge of manufacturing processes of metallic components
Ability to arrive at technically accurate conclusions and provide recommendations based on the findings
Physical activity required includes walking, standing, bending, kneeling, crawling, and sitting for prolonged periods. Climbing check stands and aircraft structures is also occasionally required in addition to the ability to frequently handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Ability to pass an annual physical eye examination IAW NAS410
Must be capable of distinguishing and differentiating colors used in all processes involving NDI methods IAW NAS410
Ability to pass a Public Trust background investigation
