Responsibilities

Gather information, perform assessments and studies with production staff, conduct production floor walkthroughs and processes mapping activities, and translate production information into model data
Develop analytics models to assess, optimize, and make predictions for various production authorities involved in development and production activities
Document model results, identify emerging areas of opportunity, lead investigative and exploratory projects, and present findings to peers and senior management
Collaborate with multi-functional teams and other specialists on large, center-level projects
Lead facility redesign efforts including accurate capture of current state and implementation of methods to determine alternative future states
Work on other projects to be determined by the organization's needs and individual interests. These may include supporting strategic projects that seek to adapt or advance Center capabilities to meet new needs across the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). These projects may include collaboration with a variety of internal and external NSE partners

Required

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance

Preferred

Graduate degree in Engineering or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation)
Experience working with Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) laboratories and plants including Pantex, Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC), Lawrence Livermore Laboratory (LLNL) and Kansas City National Security Campus/New Mexico Operations (KCNSC/NMO)
Experience working on engineering design, qualification, production, or related modeling/simulation projects
Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
Experience working in or with a production/manufacturing environment
Experience programming in one or more of the following: Python, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), R, SQL, FlexSim FlexScript, or similar
Experience with: Data mining, analysis and visualization (Python, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Power Bi, R, Minitab, JMP, SQL and/or related languages)
Facilities design (Systematic Layout Planning)
Discrete event simulation (FlexSim, Arena, Simio or other comparable software) or Optimization (Gurobi, CPLEX, or other like software)
Lean Six Sigma or other standardized problem-solving methodologies
Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner
