Airside Operations Coordinator
The City of Charlotte is dedicated to delivering quality public services and promoting the safety and health of its residents. The Airside Operations Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and maintaining safety and security in the Air Operations Area of the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. This role involves coordinating federal programs, enforcing airport rules, and conducting vehicle escorts while effectively communicating and assessing situations in a professional manner.

Responsibilities
Ensures federal regulatory compliance with FAR Part 139 and 77 by adhering to SOPs, ACM, WHMP, AEP, and other working documents through the Airport’s Self-Inspection program
Enforce Airport established rules and regulations that govern the operation of the airfield and airport employees
Participates and coordinates in federal programs to comply with FAA and TSA regulations that are required for commercial service airports
Interpret and adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations to ensure the safety and security of all persons and resources on airport property
Formulate comprehensive and concise communications in both oral and written form
Completes all required documentation under these provisions including records, reports, and logs
Conducts vehicle escorts on the Air Operations Area
Assist the Airport stakeholders and public as needed
Act decisively and exercise independent judgment within established rules, regulations and procedures
Snow duties, Issue notices to airmen, required 139 training, wildlife, construction
Ability to respond calmly and effectively during emergency and irregular operations incidents following NIMS/ICS structure
Assist other Airport Operations Sections to ensure continuity of operations
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree, plus three years of related experience, or high school diploma/GED plus five years of experience preferred
One-year experience at a FAR Part 139 commercial service airport in airport operations, safety, airport management, preferred
AAAE ACE-Operations or Certified Member designation, preferred
Thorough knowledge of FARs Part 139, 77 and associated Advisory Circulars, Aviation departmental rules and regulations and standard operating procedures
Knowledge of other applicable federal regulations including FAR Part 121, TSR Part 1542, and NIMS/ICS
Considerable knowledge of airport operations, FAA standards, hazards, and safety precautions
Skills to communicate clearly and effectively verbally in person, over the telephone, and over the two-way radio systems
Skills to effectively organize data and prioritize resources during routine and emergency operations
Skills in various computerized systems
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agencies, tenants, employees and the public, while representing CLT in a professional, positive manner
Must be able to work assigned shifts, including holidays, and reports back to work during emergencies, urgent situations, special events and inclement weather
Must successfully pass and maintain an active Security Threat Assessment (STA) and Criminal History Records Check (CHRC)
Valid driver license in state of residence and maintain a City driving permit
Must obtain and maintain Aircraft Movement Area Driver's endorsement within 90 days of employment
Preferred
One-year experience at a FAR Part 139 commercial service airport in airport operations, safety, airport management
AAAE ACE-Operations or Certified Member designation
