Responsibilities
Design and analyze transformer tanks and components (stiffeners, covers, coolers, conservators, pipework, cabling)
Create master layouts and detailed drawings using 2D/3D CAD; prepare bills of material and customer documentation
Develop technical specifications and manage procurement of tank-related parts (fans, pumps, radiators, valves)
Apply transformer design principles and calculation tools for structural components
Perform mechanical and advanced structural/seismic calculations; size and select accessories
Support R&D projects for product improvements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years as a Tank Design Engineer for medium or large Power Transformers. Candidates with more experience may be considered for a high level and vice versa
Strong knowledge of structural steel parts, materials, and transformer tank components
Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, and IEC standards
Proficient in 3D CAD (CREO, Pro/E, Inventor), 2D CAD (AutoCAD), PDM systems (PDM Link, Teamcenter), and SAP for BOM creation
Effective collaboration with manufacturing, suppliers, and customers
Must be based in or willing to relocate to Charlotte, NC
