Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of asynchronous online courses using evidence-based instructional design principles, with a focus on graduate education and adult learners
Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and cross-functional teams to scope course objectives, assessments, and content using AI-assisted tools (e.g., Course Constructor)
Produce detailed course blueprints and storyboards aligned with course outcomes and aligned with credentialing standards
Build accessible, interactive course content in Canvas using tools such as Articulate Rise, H5P, and other SCORM-compliant platforms
Apply WCAG 2.2 AA and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to ensure accessibility and inclusion for all learners
Leverage behavioral and performance data to guide content iteration, learner nudging strategies, and just-in-time supports via embedded tools like TutorBot
Coordinate with multimedia producers, copyeditors, and project managers to meet sprint deadlines
Support quality assurance (QA) workflows through peer review, user testing, and continuous improvement cycles
Mentor and review the work of junior instructional designers and contribute to template and standards development
Maintain project documentation and participate in sprint planning and retrospectives using project management tools

Required

Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field
Minimum 5 years of experience in instructional design or eLearning development, preferably in higher education or adult learning contexts
Advanced knowledge of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM), learning science, and backward design
Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS), especially Canvas, and course authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Thinkific, H5P, and SCORM packages
Demonstrated experience designing accessible learning content, including familiarity with screen reader support, alt-text, and video captioning
Ability to use data dashboards and learner analytics to inform design decisions and continuous improvement
Excellent writing and communication skills, especially in distilling complex topics into digestible, engaging learning components
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced, agile environment

Preferred

Experience working with AI tools in education, such as GPT-based writing assistants, automated assessment engines, or TutorBots
Familiarity with graduate education course development, adult education, and workforce development programs, micro-credentials, or competency-based education
Experience with agile development or sprint-based design workflows
Background in project leadership or mentoring other designers
Experience supporting programmatic or regional accreditation efforts is a plus
