Responsibilities

Lead a dynamic team that consists of SMEs for the areas of Compensation and Benefits for Volvo Group, coaching and developing the TR staff at all levels for optimal performance
Develop, align and influence to achieve adoption of the regional Total Rewards Strategy to the goals of VGNA businesses as well as to the Volvo Group’s global People and Culture Strategy, ensuring it is positioned to attract, motivate, and retain winning talent and creates an optimal Employee Experience
Strategic oversight of all benefits offerings for the US workforce. Plan, develop, and oversee administration of health and welfare benefit programs, such as medical plans; dental; supplemental life and accident; STD and LTD programs; 401(k), pension; parental and caregiver leaves; etc
Strategic oversight of all compensation offerings, processes, programs (base, bonus, severance, etc.) for the US workforce. Design and manage compensation programs, including market pricing, base compensation components, and short-term incentive plans in partnership with Group P&C in Sweden to support needs of the US
Continuously review current Comp and Ben strategy and suite of offerings to ensure VGNA programs are competitive and compelling to attract and retain exceptional talent. Identify and implement Compensation and Benefits changes to increase the quality of life for Volvo Group employees – based on individual SME-knowledge, by utilizing external consultants and brokers (as needed) and via leveraging industry best practices
Monitor the regulatory environment and interpret all external industry information to provide a framework for the Country Management Team and the P&C Country Committee. Ensure all Volvo Group Compensation and Benefits programs are compliant with applicable laws
Develop strategy and execute plans to create an effective, lean and efficient P&C operational environment through P&C IS investments, key data, evolving Human Capital Management analytics in support of business and People and Culture strategies as well as functional requirements
Serve as a thought-leader and subject matter expert on all matters pertaining to Total Rewards – such as Comp & Ben issues related to M&A work or Divestitures, etc
Partner with People Operations leaders and staff to develop and assess the ROI of TR strategies to deliver a winning Employee Experience for the region’s workforce. Define, measure, and analyze all TR performance metrics, including KPIs and SLAs, to monitor TR effectiveness
Partner with the People & Culture Country Committee (PC3), hiring managers, employees, internal and external communities, and customers to develop and implement TR policies, processes, and programs that attract, retain, and promote a diverse workforce
Collaborate across People & Culture, in particular with P&C Business Partners, to ensure that TR policies, practices, and programs are aligned with enterprise P&C goals
Partner with Corporate Communications and P&C Communications on Employment Branding and Employee Value Proposition concepts to ensure alignment of TR strategies, tools, and priorities to drive attraction & retention campaigns
Preparation and delivery of Quarterly and Annual Business Reviews for deep dive on TR performance and activity for all business units & stakeholders
Lead efforts to continuously improve TR processes and services, employing concepts of LEAN and AGILE methods and related disciplines

Required

Proven ability to lead a wide variety of professionals regardless of the experience level and specific expertise in achievement of established goals and objectives
Proven people-leadership abilities in managing a team of direct report SMEs in Benefits, Compensation, and Wellness programs
Experience managing and influencing multiple teams in a highly-matrixed organization w/ solid project management skills, having successfully delivered multiple, complex projects and initiatives on-time and on-budget
Demonstrated deep knowledge of Total Rewards principles and practices (both Compensation and Benefits)
Proven ability to manage large-scale change initiatives
Demonstrable understanding of complex processes, continuous improvement work, and an ability & interest in championing new ideas for potential adoption by the P&C Country Committee, Country Management Team, and US businesses
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
Strong executive presence, relationship-building, decision-making and advanced discernment skills
Demonstrated success in a high pressure, dynamic, fast-paced environment
Deadline focused, organized and able to prioritize multiple projects
BS/BA Degree in Management, Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or related field
10+ years of experience managing Total Rewards functions, w/ proven/demonstrated track record of results in leading a large organization's TR team
At least 5 years of management experience in supporting senior executives on Comp and Ben topics
10+ years managing/leading a Benefits and Compensation staff, including at least 5 years of managing experienced & tenured SMEs in these areas
At least 3 years of experience leading/working process improvement (design and implementation) efforts, ideally w/ LEAN and AGILE principles or related (e.g., Six Sigma, etc.)
Working knowledge of current US employment law and Human Resources professional practices, w/ comprehensive knowledge of government regulations preferred (FLSA, OFCCP, etc.)
Working “state of the practice” knowledge for Total Rewards initiatives in other Fortune 100 companies
Experience in HRIS technologies utilized in TR efforts
High level of proficiency w/ MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
Open to travel

Preferred

Masters' Degree in relevant discipline strongly preferred
Benefits and Compensation certifications strongly preferred (e.g., CCP, CEBS, SPHR, etc.)
PHR/SPHR/GPHR designations strongly preferred
