R&D Battery Intern (Cell)

Solid Power is seeking a R&D Battery Intern to join their talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry. The role involves supporting the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries through hands-on laboratory work and collaboration with the team.

Responsibilities

Work closely with and under the direction of scientists and engineers to run experiments at the lab bench scale
Participate in all components of the cell building process including (but not limited to): weighing out powders/solvents, making slurries, casting slurries, building cells, testing cells (use of potentiostats and battery cyclers)
Analyze data from cells to make recommendations for future iterations and/or cells
Communicate results and roadblocks to the broader team/audience
Always follow all facility and laboratory safety rules and regulations

Required

Enrolled at least at a junior level in a bachelor's program in a STEM field
Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment
Excellent communication skills
Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
Ability to work onsite 12+ hours per week during Spring semester

Preferred

Experience with battery materials, cell builds, data analysis, and/or failure modes
Knowledge of electrochemistry
Experience with material characterization techniques (XRD, SEM/EDS, rheology, etc.)
Experience with Python
Rapid learner and self-motivated who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative start-up environment
