On-Site Project Manager - Power Generation
Viridan Group is a leading power generation developer seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to support the development and delivery of large-scale power generation projects. The role involves acting as a key liaison between the owner and the Power Plant EPC contractor, ensuring project delivery is safe, high-quality, and cost-effective.
Responsibilities
Monitor the EPC contractor’s safety performance and adherence to the construction safety program
Coordinate and manage site discipline engineers and the Owner’s Engineer, as required, in support of construction, startup, and commissioning activities
Develop and implement processes and procedures to manage site activities effectively, including reporting, safety, environmental compliance, daily walkdowns, and issue tracking
Ensure the Owner’s Construction Project Manager is informed of technical or commercial non-conformance and schedule delays
Liaise with the Lender’s Independent Engineer to validate reported construction milestones
Ensure QA/QC and technical conformance procedures are followed by the EPC contractor
Witness critical construction hold points and provide timely feedback to the EPC contractor and Construction Project Manager
Coordinate with the O&M contractor to confirm system readiness for turnover and ensure turnover packages are complete and accurate
Participate in engineering reviews and 3D model reviews
Witness major startup, commissioning, and performance testing activities to confirm compliance with EPC contract requirements
Review and evaluate change orders and provide recommendations to the Construction Project Director
Support the Construction Manager in interactions with regulatory agencies and local community stakeholders
Develop, manage, and coordinate owner-led project activities as required
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 10+ years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager or in a similar role on power plant construction projects, either for an EPC contractor or on behalf of the project owner
Proven ability to identify safety-related issues and effectively manage staff, budgets, and project resources
Strong relationship-building skills with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders
High level of functional and technical knowledge of construction crafts and construction equipment
Working knowledge of CCGT power plant technology, including air-cooled condensers
Experience using project control tools to review schedules, scope, milestones, and contractual obligations
Solid understanding of project management principles, construction administration, and EPC contract execution
Knowledge of budgeting, cost controls, and safety requirements
Practical, hands-on understanding of EPC project phases
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
Experience on projects exceeding $500 million strongly preferred
