Team Lead - Substation Engineering

As a Team Lead of Substation Engineering, you will manage a team of engineers and drafters, ensuring the timely and quality completion of engineering projects while also focusing on professional development and adherence to best practices.
Responsibilities
Oversee a team producing detailed physical design packages
Manage and coordinate design activities, project planning, team-level scheduling, and optimization
Work with Director to develop and maintain Workload Forecasting, ensuring an accurate active project list, milestone dates, and estimate to complete (ETC) hours
Exemplify ownership and accountability over your team’s project portfolio, planning, and taking action to improve and maintain team performance
Oversee the team’s weekly budgets and track project finances to maintain fiscal responsibility
Address and mitigate project risks to prevent escalation and ensure continuity
Understand NEI processes, best practices, standards, and policies thoroughly and provide guidance to your team as required
Keep the team informed about the latest developments and ensure adherence to established standards
Assess team strengths and weaknesses, ensuring continuous development through training and coaching
Maintain expert-level knowledge of NEI's QA/QC processes and guide the team through these processes, ensuring compliance on every project
Support business development, assist with marketing tasks, and support the development of project proposals as needed
Support the client relationship to ensure ongoing satisfaction and collaboration
Supports the detailed physical design and engineering for all aspects of electric power substation, including general arrangement, elevations, conduit plan and details, trench plan and details, illumination plan and details, bus and connection details, lightning protection design, bill of materials, fence plan, and construction specifications
Review the engineering design work of team members for general quality, accuracy, and adherence to NEI and/or client standards and processes
Analyze assigned scopes and develop engineering cost estimates, schedules, and assumptions to support change orders in coordination with the project manager
Investigate and resolve technical issues within the team to ensure project continuity
Support equipment and construction specification development, review vendor submittals and respond to client RFIs
Attend safety training and adhere to all safety rules and guidelines
Strong understanding of all code and compliance, including NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and client-specific standards
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Education: Bachelors in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering from an accredited institute
Experience: 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
Licensure: FE/PE preferred
Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
Strong technical writing and communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to mentor others
Authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis
