ERS Performance Modeling Intern
GM Performance Power Units is seeking a mid-level undergraduate intern to support Energy Recovery System (ERS) performance modeling and data analysis. This role focuses on using Python and basic machine learning to train models that identify ERS KPIs and anomalies from both team and competitor telemetry data.

Responsibilities
Help develop Python scripts and notebooks to process, clean, and organize vehicle and ERS telemetry data
Train and evaluate models to extract key performance indicators and detect anomalies in ERS operation under guidance from senior engineers
Assist with creating clear plots, dashboards, and summaries that translate model outputs into actionable engineering insights
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Mid- to upper-level student in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a similar field
Completed at least one 300 level (or higher) Deep Learning or Neural Networks course, with some hands on PyTorch experience
Solid Python skills and interest in hybrid powertrain applications
Good communication skills and a collaborative, learning oriented mindset
Preferred
Experience working with time series data such as telemetry, dynamometer, or test cell measurements
Familiarity with basic vehicle or powertrain modeling concepts and simulation tools
Exposure to machine learning frameworks (such as PyTorch or scikit learn) and simple model training workflows
Experience using version control tools (e.g., Git) and collaborative development platforms
Prior project work that combines engineering domain knowledge with data analytics or machine learning
