NEOGOV is seeking an Attorney 4 to join the Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ), which is dedicated to providing effective services to youth. The Attorney 4 will handle complex legal issues, provide expert counsel, and represent the agency in various legal matters including litigation and administrative hearings.

Responsibilities

Lead attorney for internal disciplinary processes, including reviewing investigative reports, maintaining disciplinary records, drafting and approving disciplinary letters, settlement agreements, and representing OJJ in Civil Service hearings and appeals
Represent the Deputy Secretary in complex litigation before federal, state, and city courts. Prepare motions, pleadings, briefs, and appellate work; interview staff, youth, and witnesses; provide legal counsel to regional offices and facilities
Review criminal records of potential detention center employees
Analyze and interpret legislation impacting the agency; serve on committees as needed
Provide assistance to other agency attorneys and serve as Ethics Liaison
Conduct training on disciplinary processes
Perform other duties as assigned by the General Counsel

Required

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice law
Three years of experience as a practicing attorney
