8+ years of hands‑on experience in mainframe application development and support
Strong programming expertise in COBOL (or PL/I in some orgs), JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM with solid debugging skills using tools like Abend‑Aid, File‑Aid, and mainframe debuggers
Good understanding of IBM z/OS environment, TSO/ISPF, job scheduling, and production control processes
Exposure to modernization projects such as legacy refactoring, service enablement, or cloud/on‑prem migration (e.g., to Azure, Micro Focus) is a strong plus
Familiarity with SDLC, Agile methodologies, CI/CD or DevOps practices for mainframe environments (Endevor/Changeman, Git‑based pipelines, etc.)
