Fiber Splicing Technician - Traveling
Tek One Solutions is hiring experienced Fiber Splicing Technicians to support underground, aerial, and ISP splicing projects across multiple markets. The ideal candidates are safety-first, quality-driven technicians responsible for performing advanced fiber splicing, executing complete splice workflows, and mentoring junior technicians.
Responsibilities
Perform advanced fiber splicing (OSP/ISP, aerial/underground), including ribbon splicing on 144–864 count cables; work with 200-micron fiber; and single/multifiber terminations (e.g., 12-count and 16-count)
Execute complete splice workflows: buffer tube prep, ribbonization/deribbonization, fusion splicing, heat-shrink, tray/ring management, enclosure sealing, labeling, and documentation
Read/interpret splicing schematics, OTDR traces, and power meter/light source results; isolate faults and restore service with minimal supervision
Build and maintain accurate daily production logs, test records, and as-built documentation (SmartSheets/Excel or similar)
Coordinate with field leadership on materials, timelines, site readiness, and traffic/safety controls
Mentor junior techs on best practices for quality, efficiency, and safety
Adhere to all safety standards; maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area
Qualification
Required
Hands-on fiber splicing experience (3–7+ years preferred) performing production splicing, restoration, and testing
Proven proficiency with ribbon splicing 144+ (up to 864) and handling 200-micron fiber
Comfortable with 12-count and 16-count fiber builds and documentation
Ability to read prints, splice diagrams, and update redlines/as-builts
Strong OTDR and power meter/light source testing skills; able to interpret and explain results
Valid driver's license; ability to obtain/maintain DOT medical card as required
Willing and able to travel extensively and work days/nights/weekends as projects require
OSHA 30 (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
First Aid/CPR (or ability to obtain)
Bucket truck certification (or ability to obtain)
Ability to pass pre-employment screening (e.g., drug screen, motor vehicle record, background as required by project)

Preferred
Experience with mid-span and live-network restoration work
Familiarity with multiple splice enclosure types (aerial/underground/hand-hole), inside-plant trays, and rack-mounted hardware
Proficiency with documentation tools (SmartSheets, Excel) and digital test result management
Prior leadership/crew lead experience (required for many Level III roles)
