Assistant Research Engineer in Medical Devices for Wound Healing (BS)
The University of Massachusetts Lowell is seeking an Assistant Research Engineer in Medical Devices for Wound Healing within the Biomedical Engineering Department. This role involves the design, prototyping, and validation of innovative wound healing technologies, requiring hands-on experience in mechanical design and systems automation.

Responsibilities
Engineering design, construction, and testing of prototype devices for skin wound healing applications, including building testbeds and collecting performance data
Deployment of prototype devices at pre-clinical site, including training personnel and providing engineering support as required
Maintaining engineering documentation by creating, organizing, updating, and preserving technical records
Support writing and preparation of project reports and dissemination materials, like conference abstracts and posters and manuscripts for publishing in peer-reviewed journals
Qualification
Required
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field is required within 30 days of hire
This is an entry-level position requiring minimum experience in design and prototyping of devices
Demonstrated knowledge and hands on experience in one or more of the following areas is required: control systems, mechanical design, electromechanical system fabrication, rapid prototyping, miniature sensors development, electronic circuit design, CAD design, programming in LabVIEW, LabVIEW Real-Time (software and hardware)
Ability to work independently, with limited direction, as well as within a team environment
Ability to learn independently as required by the project tasks
