Responsibilities

Oversee all day-to-day laboratory activities, including scheduling, staffing, and equipment maintenance and calibration

Develop and implement policies to ensure the lab meets all state, federal, and accreditation (e.g., CLIA, CAP) standards and safety protocols

Manage the laboratory's budget, control costs, and ensure efficient and cost-effective operations

Implement and monitor quality assurance programs, conduct audits, and address deviations to maintain high standards of testing integrity

Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate laboratory personnel to ensure they are competent and perform duties accurately and efficiently

Communicate appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff and administration

Develop and implement strategic plans for lab growth, technology adoption, and process improvement to align with hospital goals

Ensure all testing is performed appropriately, documentation is maintained, and results are reported accurately and promptly. Responsible for the Moderate and High Complexity Testing

Maintains skills and knowledge through participation in educational programs, reading literature, attending workshops, and maintains affiliation with professions’ organization if applicable

Establish and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, such as referring physicians, community organizations, and vendors, to enhance the department's reputation and business growth
