Design Release Engineer (Engine Components)

LER TechForce is seeking multiple Design and Release Engineers (DREs) to support system-level design and engineering activities from concept through production. The role involves planning and coordinating engineering workflows, leading project phases, and ensuring all design and mechanical development deliverables meet quality and timing targets.

Responsibilities

Plan and formulate personal and team workflows to meet project deadlines with minimal supervision
Own engineering responsibility and lead specific project phases, including:
Technical studies
Specification development
Establishing technical plans
Develop and coordinate development plans and drive assigned engineering activities
Plan, initiate, and coordinate activities such as:
Analysis
Mechanical development
Procurement
Quality management
Initiate, coordinate, and participate in Design FMEAs in a technical role (not as a moderator)
Coordinate project meetings, design reviews, and sign-off reviews
Prepare and deliver reports and presentations (internal and customer-facing)
Resolve engineering and design conflicts and determine when escalation is required
Maintain interfaces with other systems across the overall project
Responsible for all system engineering tasks related to assigned systems, including:
System architecture
Resolving design constraints and establishing interfaces
DFMEAs and DVPRs
Bill of Material (BOM) inputs
Coordinating input from cross-functional teams (e.g., analysis groups)
Supplier negotiations and lead-time planning
Change management
Customer interface
Drive the release and sign-off process, ensuring all activities are planned, executed, and completed per project timing plans
Ensure all design, analysis, and mechanical development deliverables meet timing and quality targets
Coordinate work across teams to meet tight deadlines
Maintain awareness of project costs and budgets
Lead and author single-team proposals
Provide engineering leadership to project teams
Perform additional duties as required

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
3–5+ years of experience in powertrain design
Strong knowledge in more than one area of engine systems
Ability to lead system engineering processes, including:
P-Diagrams and boundary diagrams
DFMEAs
DVP&R
Supplier negotiations
Demonstrated team leadership capabilities
Strong communication and presentation skills
Ability to effectively communicate with customers
Solid understanding of CAE tools and practices
Strong understanding of mechanical development processes
Working knowledge of quality management tools

Preferred

Master's degree preferred
CAD experience (CATIA V5 preferred; not required but an advantage)
