Test Engineer, Thermal Fluids
Averro is a Veteran-Owned organization dedicated to delivering innovative talent solutions, business consulting, and technology services. They are seeking a Thermal Fluids Testing Engineer to complete experimental high-temperature testing activities for nuclear reactors, requiring collaboration with engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities
Assist with full-scale laboratory testing activities
Support the design and execution of high temperature liquid sodium and salt related testing activities
Develop test plans, design test fixtures, select instrumentation and data acquisition and control systems, perform testing activities, and perform post test data analysis and documentation
Collaborate with internal customers to translate conceptual requirements into actionable test specifications, including design input, instrumentation strategy, and success criteria
Coordinate cross-functional efforts including fixture design, control system integration, and lab space planning, leveraging technicians, designers, and facility personnel as needed
Design and select instrumentation for testing, based around data acquisition and control hardware and software, to meet experimental test objectives
Develop and document test plans, test designs and test procedures for experimental work
Conduct data analysis and generate test reports
Qualification
Required
Bachelors degree
3+ years of relevant experience in a testing / research and development environment
Testing and supporting large complex mechanical systems
Experience with post-processing and documenting experiments
Experience with multiple types of testing (R&D, Acceptance, Validation, Qualification)
Practical understanding of mechanical testing concepts such as force/displacement application, structural deflection, dynamic loading, vibration/impact, and environmental exposure
Awareness of common dimensional/inspection tools and motion capture technologies (e.g., Faro trackers, CMMs), even if not directly operating them
Ability to operate within a lightly structured environment where test development requires a mix of standards-based guidance and first-principles problem solving
Preferred
Alkali metal or molten salt testing and handling experience
Experience working with strain, vibration, linear motion, static loading, dynamic loading
Familiarity with engineering tools such as LabVIEW, SolidWorks, Jira/Confluence, and the Microsoft Office 365 suite
