This role involves the receipt, preparation, and distribution of biological specimens for analytical testing in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the receipt of biological specimens into the department
Proper entry into the company’s computer system
Preparation of samples for analytical testing
Distribution of these specimens to the proper analytical area
Archiving specimens after testing

Qualification

Laboratory experienceTyping skillsOrganizational skillsReading skillsMath abilitiesCommunication skillsWriting skills

Required

Minimum age requirement of 18
Good reading, writing and math abilities are required
Oral and written communication skills sufficient to understand written and spoken instructions in English
Good organization skills are also required
Must meet all training competency qualifications for Specimen Preparation Technician within six months of hire

Preferred

Six (6) months' experience in a laboratory or key encoding environment
High School Diploma or equivalent GED exam or other means
Typing/keyboarding skills of minimum 25 wpm, demonstrated by completion of a typing/keyboarding test
