The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is seeking a Manager for Risk Retention and Insurance to work with various departments to evaluate and manage the company's insurance risks. The role involves driving the insurance program, negotiating coverage, and providing training on risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

Manage the insurance renewal process which includes, but is not limited to gathering and analyzing underwriting data, determining appropriate risk assumptions and policy terms, collateral requirements, evaluating bids, and presenting proposals to senior leadership. Work with US and overseas finance personnel on invoice payment and wire transfers, especially in developing countries
Manage centralized insurance program for international operations
Oversee insurance brokers' daily activities, including issuance of insurance certificates
Review various types of corporate agreements for appropriate insurance, indemnification, and casualty requirements and/or stipulations
Oversee construction insurance programs; review, negotiate and improve insurance and indemnity language in contracts; knowledge of building construction and risks would be helpful
Collect property valuations and incorporate into global database for underwriters and internal use
Work with Church fleet database to determine global vehicle risks by country
Oversee reporting and perform analysis to identify trends and challenges
Provide training and education on insurance and risk mitigation, as needed or requested
Seek ways to optimize and communicate risk controls and safety training within the organization as a competitive business advantage
Review, maintain, and amend policies as needed based on natural and other evolving risks. Assist in filing policies in electronic library
Support Division leadership by advising on insurance issues
Arrange needed property certificates for new property acquisitions and assist with preparation of Missionary apartment certificates
Train Church employees and managers on insurance and contractual risk transfer issues
Coordinate with the Safety Program Manager and other internal departments
Interacts with Executive Team Members, specifically the CFO
Manage team members
Consult with affiliate organizations to coordinate the insurance and risk retention program

Required

Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy
Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance or Accounting (Required)
Eight to ten years of relevant experience in the commercial property casualty insurance industry
Must display ability to lead and provide training and guidance to others
Strong mathematical skills needed to understand underwriting, actuarial work, catastrophic modeling, cost-benefit analyses, cash flows, and budgets and expenditures
Strong vendor management skills are required to leverage large quantity and excellent quality work from third parties for most every area of the department's operations
Strong decision making, organizational, planning and problem solving skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong marketing and presentation skills in order to most effectively package risk and business opportunities to third parties
Excellent business writing skills needed to prepare reports and recommendations
Strong working knowledge of insurance coverage including workers' compensation, errors & omissions, directors & officers, commercial property, general liability, umbrella liability, commercial automobile liability, personal lines, fiduciary liability, fidelity and surety bonds
Strong knowledge operating a PC, knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Ability to learn new software

Preferred

Strong accounting and finance background preferred
CPCU and ARM, MBA preferred
Spanish language skills preferred
