Manufacturing Process Engineer

Responsibilities
Handle all personnel issues, including performance, employee relations, and disciplinary processes in line with company policies and management for area
Coach, counsel, and guide employees towards daily success
Lead safety initiatives, including audits, training, and ensuring proper PPE usage at all times
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and optimize manufacturing processes for large cast plastic manufacturing and machining operations
Design and develop molds, fixtures, and tooling to support manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness
Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to identify opportunities for process improvement, reduce waste, and enhance overall efficiency
Lead process improvement projects, from concept development to implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives
Document new processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions, and provide training to production teams as needed
Utilize SolidWorks and AutoCAD to create detailed designs, models, and technical drawings for molds, fixtures, and tooling
Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new manufacturing processes and tooling designs
Provide technical support to production teams, troubleshooting issues related to manufacturing processes, molds, fixtures, and tooling
Collaborate with suppliers to source materials and components for molds, fixtures, and tooling, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards
Participate in design reviews, providing input and recommendations to enhance manufacturability and efficiency
Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in manufacturing technology, and best practices in large cast plastic manufacturing and machining
Adhere to safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety within the manufacturing environment
Estimate production times, capacities, staffing requirements, and related costs and provide information and recommendations for management decisions
Researches, identifies, proposes, and implements new manufacturing technology including automation, controls, robotics, etc
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related field
2+ years of experience in manufacturing process engineering, preferably in the plastics or machining industry
Proficiency in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, with experience in process improvement projects
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, and machining
Experience with mold design, fixture design, and tooling development
Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 3D modeling and technical drawing
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards related to manufacturing processes and tooling design
