2026 Transmission System Planning Intern

Responsibilities

Assist in building and maintaining transmission system models used for planning studies
Collect and review forecasted load data for inclusion in system models
Help gather and validate system parameters such as equipment ratings, impedances, protection settings, and network topology
Support transmission system impact studies across Eversource’s service territories
Contribute to the development of study scopes and documentation under guidance
Apply planning standards and regulatory criteria (e.g., NERC, NPCC, ISO-NE) in study work
Participate in testing solution alternatives to address identified system issues
Assist in performing steady-state, stability, short circuit, and electromagnetic transient (EMT) analyses
Support System Operations via researching disturbance events and other analyses
Help automate study processes using transmission analysis tools
Interface with internal departments and external entities such as ISO-NE
Work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams
Support documentation of study results and preparation of technical reports
Contribute to the development of training materials and presentations

Required

Currently pursuing a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on Electric Power Systems
Basic understanding of power system concepts including modeling, load flow, and symmetrical components
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Team-oriented with effective interpersonal and organizational skills
Eagerness to learn and take initiative in a technical environment

Preferred

Exposure to power system analysis tools such as PSSE, ASPEN, PSCAD, or similar software
Coursework or project experience related to transmission planning, power system analysis, or electrical design
