Responsibilities
Perform skilled mechanical tasks involved in the maintenance and repair of specialized city vehicles and equipment
Act as lead technician to fleet mechanics
Manage contracts with outside vendors
Work with department staff to diagnose and repair equipment
Perform body work and restoration to the interior and exterior of vehicles
Rebuild, overhaul and tune up engines
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Five years of experience in the automotive technology field, which must include hands-on diagnosis and repair (of which include at least two years in a lead or supervisory capacity)
Valid Texas driver's license
Must currently possess, or be able to obtain within six months from date of hire, the following certification and licensure: State Motor Vehicle Safety and Emissions Inspector License, EPA/IMACA Refrigerant License and Texas Class B CDL
Must also currently possess, or be able to obtain within six months from date of hire, Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications for light (A1-A8, Master Certification) or certifications for heavy (T2-T7, Master Certification)
Must provide one's own tools, preferably possessing necessary tools at the time of hire
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
