The Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will lead the re-platforming and build-out of an internal KVM-based virtualization environment, integrating OpenStack and automation tools to support workload migration from legacy systems.

Responsibilities
Tear down and rebuild existing ESX-based UCS blade environment, transitioning to KVM virtualization
Design and implement an OpenStack platform for internal use, considering open-source alternatives to OpenShift due to current challenges
Integrate SAN and NetApp storage solutions into the new platform, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
Deploy and configure open-source automation tools (e.g., Ansible) for infrastructure management and orchestration
Collaborate with internal staff (including offshore resources) and provide technical leadership and mentorship as needed
Work closely with network architects and storage teams to ensure seamless integration and operation
Document architecture, configuration, and operational procedures for the new environment
Support ongoing platform enhancements and troubleshooting
Qualification
Required
Extensive experience with Linux, KVM virtualization, and OpenStack deployment
Strong background in UCS hardware, SAN, and NetApp storage integration
Proficiency with open-source automation tools (e.g., Ansible)
Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team
Excellent documentation and communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
Strong organizational skills
Excellent analytical skills
Excellent documentation skills; demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Collaborative team worker – both in person and virtually using MS Teams or similar
Ability to work as liaison between business and information security / information technology
Flexibility to accommodate working across different time zones
Excellent interpersonal communication skills with strong spoken and written English
