System Administrator - Technical Services - Information Technology
Fort Bend County is ranked as one of the fastest growing counties in the nation. They are seeking a System Administrator to develop, configure, install, and maintain servers while providing advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting for network hardware and software issues.

Responsibilities
Develops, configures, installs and maintains servers with complex server hardware, network operating systems and application software to provide maximum utilization of current resources through effective and efficient direction in meeting user requirements for computerized solutions
Performs advanced diagnostics and troubleshoots and resolves network hardware components, system software and hardware; resolves advanced, complex system access and connectivity problems through the advanced system utilities and protocol analysis
Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Virtual Networking, PKI, Microsoft Server 2016, 2019, and 2022, Superna, Intune, Service Now, and Dell Isilon storage appliance
Skilled in supporting electronic messaging including Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, and associated applications
Develops and maintains current server operations and backup procedures
Troubleshoots and works with external vendors to resolve complex system issues
Responsible for providing tier III support for workstations, applications, mobile devices, network infrastructure, server infrastructure and related technology
Acquires, tests, and applies system software/hardware updates, releases and patches
Recommends and implements system policies and standards and ensures adherence to approved security and disaster recovery procedures
Installs third-party software products and tests products thoroughly. Installs patches/upgrades to third-party products when necessary and in conjunction with vendor support status
Proficient with virtualization technologies VMware/Hyper-V. Strong understanding of enterprise storage architecture including connectivity & design, physical/virtual SAN, hyper-convergence, and backup & recovery methodologies
Assists in the evaluation of vendor products in hardware, software, and networking equipment and recommends purchases consistent with the organizations short and long-term goals
On-call 24/7 for IT support issues
Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field. (High School/GED and four years of relevant professional experience in addition to 5 years required experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree)
5 years of directly related experience
Experience with VMware and Microsoft O365 required
Thorough knowledge of network operating systems, systems integration and multiple network protocols
Ability to design, install, manage and monitor complex systems, operating system software and applications
Knowledge of system administration of multiple server environments
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials
Preferred
MCSE, CCNA certifications preferred
